We've decided we're not doing one this year. It's been great for the past five years but the idea has kind of run it's course for us.

We'll instead be doing more in-store gigs and events of which there are many planned, some announced some not, Hofner and Freshman workshops coming up soon. Keep your eye on our Facebook events page (best become our fan to get news first ;-) ).

Hope everyone's not too disappointed, hopefully everyone knows we really try hard to support the local scene and it's very important to us but we are going to find other ways to do it which don't include competition because it isn't really what the whole thing should be about.

I'll be trying to make a dedicated page about the history of the Battle of the Bands, winners photos, etcetc, because it hasn't been added to our new website yet.

Many thanks to all the bands and people who have helped and supported all the past year's Battle of the Bands. It was a mostly positive experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it and made many new friends along the way.

Cheers Greg. I personally thought highlight of last year was Keighley Krawl tbh, that is probably for another thread though.

:( really has been a highlight of the past 4 years for me such a shame because there's a lot of good young bands coming through this year and it would have been a really interesting do!

Ah thats a shame, I always enjoyed the BOTB, it was a great chance to catch up on what everyone else has been up to!

I agree that music shouldn't be a competition. I found it tough not getting competative when we entered lol ah well

I hope these in-store gigs go well! I like the idea of early evening gigs, hopefully they will make local music more available to youngsters who wouldn't be allowed to go out late, in bars and what not!

If you want any flyers sticking up in the shop just bring em over!

Cheers Wadey, yeah the in-store things do make it more accessible for young uns. There was someone who brought their kid down to the Alt Track one which was ace to see.

yeah man, will be sad to be without it - it's been a real staple of the local scene over the last few years, and always made for some great gigs, regardless of the competition.

the in stores are a great idea, and i really hope it develops. it's great that the muso centre's played such a continuously active role in the scene.
